Phyllis Sanchez, President

Phyllis Sanchez was re-elected to the Board of Education in 2013 and elected President in November 2015. She was elected to a four-year term on the Board in 2009, serving as the Vice President. She was elected President in November 2011. She previously served on the Pueblo City Schools Board from 2005-2007.  Mrs. Sanchez is a Pueblo native and a 1976 graduate of Centennial High School.  She has worked in long term care her entire 30+ year career and received her National Certification as an Assisted Living Administrator in 2000.  She is the Founder & CEO of Senior Care Systems of Colorado, Inc., a private nonprofit corporation which owns and operates Belmont Senior Care Assisted Living and Adult Day Care Center in Pueblo.


Mrs. Sanchez’s long-time community involvement includes the Parkview Medical Center Board, the Pueblo Zoological Society, the Pueblo Hispanic Education Foundation Board and she recently served on the Board of Directors for the Latino Chamber of Commerce.  She previously served as the Centennial High School Site-Based Committee Chairperson (1994-2004); was a member of the Centennial High School Foundation as well as numerous other Boards.  She is also a member of the Pueblo Greater Chamber of Commerce, the American College of Health Care Administrators, the Colorado Health Care Association and NALEO (the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials).  Mrs. Sanchez is married and has one adult daughter, Andrea.
